Charles Wright

As the current Dean of Academic Affairs at Kendall College of Art and Design, I know the value of working as a colleague in a collaborative environment where innovation and creativity are routinely practiced. I received an MFA in Sculpture from Washington University in St. Louis, and after teaching Sculpture for a number of years, I became Chair of the Department of Art at Coastal Carolina University.   As Chair, I became active with the College Art Association, the National Council of Arts Administrators, Tri-State Sculptors, the American Association of Museums, and now ICFAD. I valued these professional connections as they each have helped to prepare me for in depth service to the arts nationally. I was Vice President of Committees with the College Art Association where I worked to help develop a number of new professional standards, and helped to revise each of the CAA’s Standards and Guidelines for professional practice.

In addition to 31 years’ experience as an Artist/Professor, Department Chair, and now Dean, I have been a Board member of national arts organizations, and President of a regional Art museum, and a Board member of a local arts re-funding agency in South Carolina. While in Illinois, I served on the Illinois Arts Council Agency and the Program Grants panel. I understand the role that the Arts play in the lives of individuals and communities. I am a current member of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee of ICFAD, and will bring my understanding of national arts organizations, experiences working to develop standards and guidelines, and love of working with committed artists and colleagues with the arts in higher education arts to the ICFAD Board.
