ICFAD’s Leadership Development Seminar

Empowering people to be their strongest by measuring talents, providing mentorship, strengthening leadership in academia.

What was previously planned as a pre-conference leadership development workshop led by Dr. Mark Heckler, President, Valparaiso University and Dr. Barbara Korner, Dean Emerita, College of Arts & Architecture, Penn State University is now scheduled to be offered as ICFAD’s First Annual Leadership Development Seminar online.

Six 90-minute sessions will be Wednesday afternoons from 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. Eastern / 1:30 – 3:00 Central / 12:30 – 2:00 Mountain / 11:30 – 1:00 Pacific.

each of the sessions.

ICFAD's Leadership Development Committee is pleased to present an online academy designed to:

  • provide a toolbox for those who have transitioned or may transition into administrative leadership roles as a dean of higher education visual and performing art schools and colleges;
  • share connections and network development. Participants will have an opportunity to learn from and contribute new ideas and best practices while making professional connections with other academic leaders;
  • prepare new and future deans to take full advantage of future ICFAD Conferences specifically and ICFAD membership throughout the year as support structures for their administrative leadership;
  • inspire enthusiasm for leadership opportunities in the arts in higher education;
  • encourage under-represented groups to pursue options in leadership positions;
  • provide a venue for those who are considering transitioning or have transitioned into administrative roles in arts higher education to learn elements of academic leadership; and build on ICFAD's long tradition of "Deans Helping Deans

Applications for ICFAD’s Leadership Development Seminar are now being accepted. Join us. A registration fee of $250 includes an opportunity for each participant to take a CliftonStrengths assessment and learn how their talents in four domains – executing, influencing, relationship building and strategic thinking – help them succeed when they join, create or lead a team.
