Alain Hentschel

Alain Hentschel is currently dean of Florida School of the Arts, a two-year, AS degree granting school for the visual and performing arts located on the campus of St. Johns River State College, in northeast Florida.

Alain trained as an artist, and began his career in arts administration at the Parsons School of Design in Paris, working his way from art teacher and head of the Foundation to Department, to Director, in the course of a twenty- two year tenure at the institution. When Alain and his wife, Ginger, made the decision to return to America in 2002, he worked briefly at Parsons in New York City. He went on to serve six years as Associate Dean of Fine and Applied Arts at the College of DuPage, outside of Chicago, before professional opportunity brought him to Florida. He has a master's degree in drawing and painting from California State University at Long Beach. Alain and his wife make their home in St. Augustine.
